Karten CTEC Centre at Ravenswood Village receives accreditation
The Karten Computer-Aided Training Education and Communication (CTEC) Centre at Norwood’s Ravenswood Village has received the Matrix Standard accreditation for information, advice and guidance services provided to disabled students. The Matrix Standard is an industry-recognised quality kite-mark and it has been awarded to the Karten CTEC Centre in recognition of the excellent range of services that it provides to people with disabilities.
The Karten CTEC Centre is part of Norwood’s portfolio of specialist services. It has eighty-five students with a range of disabilities including learning disabilities, mental health problems, visual or hearing impairments, physical disabilities or profound and multiple disabilities. The Centre benefits from a range of adaptive technologies, specialist software and equipment as well as a specialist ICT room - primarily for profoundly disabled students - all of whom receive intensive tutor support.
An assessor from EMQC – the organisation responsible for the assessment and accreditation of Matrix – spent a day at the Karten CTEC Centre interviewing staff and students. She found out how people heard about the service, how well students were informed about opportunities available to them and how well they felt supported in achieving their goals.
The main findings of the report were:
- A strong team ethos across the organisation
- High levels of individual support to students, tailored for a wide range of needs
- Clear and user-friendly materials and website
- Targeted and effective marketing
- Joint working and delivery of courses
Susie Holdsworth, Project Manager at the Karten CTEC Centre said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this Matrix Standard accreditation. The team has worked hard to ensure that we consistently deliver quality services to our students. Being awarded this is public recognition of our commitment to excellence in all that we do and the kite mark will now feature prominently across all our literature. Our existing students, new clients and everyone associated with this service should be very proud of our achievements and we look forward to building on our reputation in the future.”
