Ravenswood Fun Day - Sunday July 2 2006

Sun-drenched Crowthorne was the place to be on Sunday 2 July as Ravenswood, a residential community run by Norwood, held its annual fun day. The Chairman of Wokingham District Council, Councillor Angus Ross, and the Deputy Mayor of Bracknell Forest, Mrs Gill Birch, were among the 1,500 people who attended the event.
This year’s fun day had a sports theme, with interactive games, crazy golf and beat the goalie all on offer. But there were also plenty of other activities to keep everyone amused, including a live band, great food, children’s entertainments and a raffle. The event raised £12,000, which will be spent on providing services and support to the residents for the coming year.
Jane Phillips, Ravenswood Fundraiser, was delighted with how the day went. She said: “What a fantastic occasion and what wonderful weather!. Everyone appeared to have a lovely time, our service users in particular. I’d like to thank all those who were involved”.

Ravenswood is set in over 120 acres of Berkshire countryside housing an indoor hydrotherapy pool, a coffee shop, dance and art studios, riding school and a working garden all of which are developed to meet the needs of residents.
Recreational, leisure and sporting activities are equally well catered for. Ravenswood can even boast its own medal winning Special Olympics team. Many residents form tandem teams and compete in sponsored bike rides, both here and abroad, organised by the Norwood Challenges department.
Ravenswood is an extremely positive place. The happy atmosphere and the genuine sense of community touch visitors.
