The Baby Mind Reader
An audience of expectant listeners heard Derek Ogilvie reveal how he communicates telepathically with babies. Derek, who has his own Channel 5 television show, The Baby Mind Reader, gave the audience advice and tips about how they can learn to listen to their babies. The evening was organised by the Make a Difference committee to raise money for Norwood, the leading Jewish children and family services charity, and was held at the Pentland Centre in Finchley.
As well as appearing on television, Derek performs across the UK and has been a professional medium and baby telepathist for six years, communicating with babies and young children and finding out what they are thinking about. He uses his skills to help parents solve problems they are having with their children, for example, with sleeping or eating.
Derek is keen to use his skills to help increase our understanding of children with autism. He said, ‘I've had great successes working with children with autism to understanding their thought processes and the way they see the world... I'm working with a scientist in America to discover how I do what I do, and to see how we can better understand people with autism.'
The Make a Difference committee, who host events for parents of young children to raise money for Norwood is made up of three young mothers, Sarah Callman, Jane Dimson and Sharon Waters.
The committee said, ‘We want to thank Derek Ogilvie for giving our audience such an entertaining and interesting evening. The money raised will help to ensure that Norwood can continue to respond to the many requests it receives to assist and support children and families in distress or need.'
Norwood currently provides services to adults with learning disabilities at Ravenswood Village and provides residential and supported accommodation, employment and leisure services. Children with profound and multiple learning disabilities attend Norwood's Annie Lawson School and Binoh, our special education outreach service.
Norwood Community Fundraiser, Emma Sharp said, ‘The evening was a success for us and we appreciate Derek's generosity in holding a lively auction for personal reading sessions with children, to raise more money to help Norwood to support children and families. We also thank the Pentland Centre for their hospitality.'
