They were rolling in the aisles at Camden’s Oh! Bar yesterday evening, as Young Norwood staged its Stand Up For Charity comedy night in front of a packed house of more than 150 YN supporters.
A hilarious line-up of comic talent, all recently returned from the Edinburgh Festival, delighted the audience with gags on a diverse range of subjects, some of which are repeatable, others less so. The event, organised by Young Norwood’s N-Joy Committee, raised more than £3,000 for the Charity.
Compere Matt Crosby, who kept the evening ticking along nicely, was joined by Joe Wilkinson, winner of the 2006 Hackney Empire new act competition, Steve Weiner, Al Stick, Dave Nichols and Arnab Chandra, who went down particularly well with his hyperactive delivery and wide repertoire of accents.
There was also a raffle that took place during the interval, featuring prizes ranging from an IPod Shuffle to a health club subscription.
Sara Parish, the event organiser and Young Norwood Fundraiser, was delighted with how the evening unfolded. She said: “It was a terrific atmosphere in there and the event was a sellout, so I couldn’t really have asked for more.
A big thank you to the N-Joy committee for all of their hard work and the comedians for giving their all, in the name of Norwood. The money raised will help us to continue providing vital services to the most vulnerable members of our community.”
