Star of Sixty Six Scores For Norwood

4 October 2006

Young acting star Gregg Sulkin was joined by director Paul Weiland and nearly 200 guests last night as Norwood City Slickers held a special charity preview screening of Sixty Six, a Jewish coming of age comedy, at the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley. The event raised more than £4,000 for Anglo-Jewry’s leading children and family services charity.

Prior to the screening, Gregg Sulkin and Paul Weiland took part in a question and answer session, giving the audience some insights into the making of the film and what it was like to work with the top-quality cast, that includes Helena Bonham Carter. Gregg, 13, then proceeded to delight the crowd by declaring that he was donating £155, the proceeds from a charity run he had recently completed, to Norwood. On making the announcement, he said: “I think that it is very important that the Jewish community helps each other, and that is why charities such as Norwood are so vital and why I am delighted to give my support.”

Emma Sharp, Norwood Community Fundraiser, was delighted with the evening. She said: “It was great to have Paul and Gregg here with us tonight. I am sure they will have been thrilled by the spontaneous applause from the audience as the final credits rolled. I would also like to thank Gregg for choosing to donate to Norwood. It was a lovely gesture and will help us to fund the vital services that Norwood provides.”
