Jon Snow Presents The News To The Norwood Business Breakfast
200 leaders of industry and key players in the business world, who enjoy a philanthropic association with Norwood , joined the organisation for its annual Business Breakfast on Friday 24th March 2006 to hear Channel 4 News Presenter Jon Snow speak about the problems in the Middle East and the war on terror.
Snow, who was named as Journalist of the Year at the Royal Television Society Awards in February, has fronted the news programme since 1989. He has recently returned from Iran where he was given unprecedented access to broadcast a weeklong series of live programmes from a number of different locations, including the capital Tehran, where he interviewed Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani.
During his address he spoke of Norwood's work supporting children and families, and adults with learning disabilities or coping with social disadvantage . He said: " I am honoured to be here because I think what Norwood does is in and of itself remarkable. I am taken to a place of envy to a community which still treasurers and supports the extended family and still offers support to those less fortunate within it. "
The Norwood Business Breakfast is one of the organisation's most popular networking events attracting support throughout the business and professional community. Traditionally the Breakfast has become synonymous with top politicians, and leading industry and media personalities and this year was certainly no exception.
Simon Sterling, Chairman of the Business Breakfast , was delighted with the success of the event. He said : "We are delighted that one of the country's most recognisable news presenters joined us this morning to share with us his views on the Middle East and the Axis of Evil. Jon Snow is rightly regarded as one of the leading British journalists and this is reflected in his recent award from the Royal Television Society. I am especially grateful to him for finding some time in his busy schedule to address this audience."
The Norwood Business Breakfast, held at The Langham, was once again sponsored by Investec Private Bank and raised £54,000 for Anglo-Jewry's leading children and family services charity
