Snow The Man For Capital To Coast 2006

Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow donned his cycling gear and shared a tandem with residents of Ravenswood Village to launch the marketing campaign for Norwood's Capital To Coast Bike Ride, an annual 60-mile charity bike ride from Hampton Court to Hove. The event, on Sunday 16 July, is sponsored by Condor Cycles Ltd and is now in its eleventh year.

It will be raising money for four deserving causes; Norwood, a leading children and family services charity, the Down's Syndrome Association, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Southern FM's Help a Local Child. The event raises much-needed funds to help children and adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities, as well as socially disadvantaged children and their families

In the next few weeks, Norwood will hold a series of Capital to Coast Roadshows in London and Hove, at which the public will have a chance to chat with past competitors, sign up for the event and find out about the charities involved. These roadshows will take place at Condor Cycles Ltd, 51 Gray's Inn Road, London, WC1X 8PP, on 9 May, 7 June and 6 July, between 12.00 and 14.00. The Hove Roadshow will be held at the King Alfred Leisure Centre, Kingsway, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 2WW on 23 May, also between 12.00 and 14.00.

Jon Snow, speaking at the marketing launch, said: "The Capital to Coast Bike Ride is a fantastic event that enables people of all abilities to experience the joys of cycling in beautiful surroundings while raising vital funds for charity. I urge everybody to put on their helmets and sign up now!"

Registration for Capital To Coast is just £20 for the full 60 miles (on the day registration £25) or £15 for a 30-mile ride (on the day registration £20). This year, organisers are encouraging all participants to do their bit by raising at least £200 sponsorship money and helping to make this year's ride the most successful ever.
