Date: 14 December 2005 Norwood Care Staff Awarded Care Industry Qualifications
Norwood's ongoing commitment to be a leading provider of specialist services within the UK's learning disability sector, was emphasised again last week when a further 40 of its care staff working at Ravenswood Village, and across the organisation's residential homes in London, received their care industry awards.
Staff from a range of the organisation's services joined colleagues on Wednesday 7 th December for an award ceremony at the University College of Winchester. In total 13 members of staff received their Learning Disability Award Framework (LDAF) Level Two Qualification and 21 others received their Level Three Qualifications . 6 members of staff also received their National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Care Level Four awards at the ceremony.

Also present was Norwood service user and Ravenswood Village resident Shirley Colman, who was invited to speak about how staff training has helped improve her quality of life. Tisha Mitchell, who received her LDAF Level Three Qualification, also spoke about how the training has helped develop her career opportunities.
Ellen Olsen, Staff Training and Development Manager at Norwood, said: All our care staff have shown a great level of commitment and effort in gaining these accreditations. What is of greatest importance to Norwood is that our service users and residents at the homes benefit from staff increasing their knowledge to a nationally agreed standard. The organisation will continue to ensure that all our staff have the appropriate knowledge to provide the best possible care to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Last week's ceremony was the second one this year to involve Norwood care staff. In January 44 members of staff received their care industry awards at similar ceremony at the University of Winchester.
