The Commission on Women in Jewish Leadership (CWJL)

CWJL logo

A snapshot of the Jewish community’s main organisations last year revealed that women comprise only a fifth of all JLC member organisation trustees, a quarter of chief executives and just a quarter of members of the Board of Deputies. The Commission on Women in Jewish Leadership (CWJL) was established to make the community stronger by addressing this gender imbalance in Jewish communal leadership.

Research demonstrates that organisations with gender-balanced leadership are more effective and there is an urgent need to make the community stronger and more efficient by engaging women at the highest levels and retaining our pool of talent.

The CWJL, - an initiative of the Jewish Leadership Council (JLC) – is working with the community to understand and address this issue and to put forward concrete proposals for change.

Everyone is encouraged to contribute their views and to circulate the on line survey and all communal organisations are being invited to contribute and engage with the process. Those interested are even able to make a small donation to support the work of the Commission – the aim is to fundraise from the grass roots for this issue, which really matters to people within the community.

To contribute your views, please fill out the Online Survey>>
