Winning streak for Enterprise Supper Quiz as it raises £9,000 for Norwood

25 January 2010

Question: How much money did Norwood raise at its annual Enterprise Supper Quiz?
Answer: An amazing £9,000!

Some 215 people put their grey matter into action as Norwood’s Enterprise Committee staged its annual Supper Quiz at St Michaels Banqueting Hall in Golders Green last night. The event was won by Michael Gerrard, who was the captain of last year’s winners, and his team mates Jonathan Brody, Carolyn Fink, Philippa Gerrard, David and Julia Kay, Alison Lieberman, Joyce McKimm, Jack and Jan Moses, Belinda Smith and Robert Wiseman. Meanwhile, Liza Abrahams triumphed in a special True or False round.

Now in its fourth year, the event saw the return of regular quizmaster Alan Dedicoat, who is better known as the National Lottery’s ‘Voice of the Balls’ and a BBC Radio 2 newsreader. The quiz raised £2,500 more than last year and all the money will go towards helping to change the lives of thousands of people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

Before the start of the quiz, participants watched a short film which charted Norwood’s lifelong involvement with 17-year-old Benjamin Marks, who suffered a brain injury at birth which left him with severe learning disabilities. Benjamin and his family, who receive a range of tailor-made support from Norwood, are just some of the many people who the Charity helps to improve the quality of their lives and fulfil their potential.

Gemma Wolfson, Norwood’s Community Fundraiser, said: “The evening was a lot of fun and, more importantly, a great success. I’d like to thank the Enterprise Committee for all their hard work, Alan Dedicoat for once again donating his time to such a good cause and all our supporters who turned out on the night. The event is getting bigger and better each year, which is fantastic news for all the people who benefit from the vital services which Norwood provides.”
