Anthony climbs back into the saddle for Kenya Bike Ride
An estimated 140 cyclists will take on the terrains of east Africa in aid of Norwood during its international bike ride in Kenya in October. The ride will begin at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and finish in Mombasa by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Riders will cycle through national parks, breathtaking scenery and get up close and personal with the local wildlife, while navigating the challenging mountainous hills and vast flat lands.

Candice makes a splash for Norwood
A kind-hearted schoolgirl who organised a swimathon in aid of Norwood has raised an amazing £9,000 for the Charity. Candice Tucker, 11, from St John’s Wood, invited 52 of her friends to take part in the fundraising event, which was kindly hosted by Francis Holland School in Clarence Gate. All the money raised at the swimathon, held on Sunday, 16 May, will help Norwood to continue providing a range of life-changing services for people with learning disabilities and children and families in need.

Cyclists ride ‘Capital to Coast’ to raise £250,000 for charity
More than 1,500 cyclists set their wheels in motion to raise an estimated £250,000 for five charities, during the annual Capital to Coast Cycle Challenge for Charity today. Now in its fifteenth year, the charity bike ride generated vital funds for Norwood, Bliss, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the Down’s Syndrome Association, and Heart FM’s Have a Heart appeal.

Dozens of dads set aside their slippers and Sunday papers on Father’s Day to saddle-up for Norwood’s annual Junior Bike Ride. They were among 340 people who took part in the 10-mile off-road adventure in Elstree yesterday, helping to raise £35,000 for the Charity’s work with people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need.

A 66-year-old great-grandmother from Edgware, north London, braved intense heat earlier this month to complete her 20th marathon in aid of Norwood in just 12 years. Power-walking dynamo Flora Frank took part in the 33rd Tiberias Marathon in Israel on 7 January and crossed the finish line in just under six hours. A group of energetic fundraisers braved the heat yesterday to raise £1,000 for Norwood during the annual Community Fun Run. The 25 Norwood participants included 20-year-old Fychi Dresdner, who completed the course in a wheelchair pushed by her long-term foster mum Judy Meshulam.

Four brothers will be pounding the capital’s streets on 25 April as they join 22 other runners taking part in the London Marathon in aid of Norwood. Joe, Sam, Harry and Jacob Green hope their combined efforts during the 26-mile challenge will raise more than £10,000 for the Charity.
