  • Summer fun at Hackney Family Centre The poor weather this summer may have put a dampener on most people’s moods, but for Orthodox Jewish families in and around Stamford Hill, spirits have been high with excitement and fun in the air. 2 September 2010
  • Denise adds a Moroccan flavour to Come Dine at Mine The month of August may be disappearing rapidly before our eyes, but there is still plenty of time to organise a summer soiree in aid of Norwood as part of its Come Dine at Mine fundraising initiative. Launched in April, Come Dine at Mine encourages people to host dinner parties for friends and family in aid of the Charity. In return, they will be provided with fundraising materials, including mouth-watering recipes, top dinner party tips and money-off vouchers to be used at selected food stores 16 August 2010
  • Norwood awarded £10,000 lottery grant for ‘fantas-tech’ new project Norwood didn’t have to match the bonus ball number, but nonetheless found itself with the winning ticket when it was awarded £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund. The money will be used by Norwood’s Supported Employment Service to pilot an innovative new project which will help people with learning disabilities acquire new skills at home and in the workplace through assistive technology. 12 August 2010
  • Norwood is speaking the same language through U-Me Norwood has launched an exciting new initiative which is set to ensure that the communication needs of the adults with learning disabilities who use its services are met through the use of a common language. The U-Me project Understanding Me) was officially unveiled yesterday during a celebration event at Ravenswood, which is the Charity’s residential community in Berkshire. 5 August 2010
  • Norwood to extend Family Support service into Hertfordshire In response to the needs of a growing Jewish community in Hertfordshire, Norwood’s Family Support service is branching out to help children and families in need living in the area. Social Workers, Counsellors and Family Support Workers based at the Kennedy Leigh Family Centre in Hendon already provide support to many families in Hertfordshire. 29 July 2010
  • Norwood’s first Teeny Tiny Toddle raises £4,000 The sun was shining on Sunday as Puddles the Penguin made a guest appearance at Norwood’s first Teeny Tiny Toddle. The mini-marathon for Toddlers, and their mums, dads and grandparents, was held at Shenley Park, Radlett, and raised £4,000 for the Charity, which will go towards helping people with learning disabilities, and children and families in need. 19 July 2010
  • Anthony climbs back into the saddle for Kenya Bike Ride An estimated 140 cyclists will take on the terrains of east Africa in aid of Norwood during its international bike ride in Kenya in October. The ride will begin at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and finish in Mombasa by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Riders will cycle through national parks, breathtaking scenery and get up close and personal with the local wildlife, while navigating the challenging mountainous hills and vast flat lands. 15 July 2010
  • Toy Story 3 screening raises £6,500 for Norwood Norwood took 300 cinemagoers to infinity and beyond yesterday, during a special 3D screening of Toy Story 3 which raised £6,500 for the Charity. Buzz and Woody fans, both young and old, flocked to the VUE Cinema in North Finchley for the fundraising event, which was organised by Norwood’s Enterprise Committee. All proceeds from the screening, which was held in partnership with Walt Disney Pictures, will go towards the Charity’s life-changing work with people with learning disabilities, and child 12 July 2010
  • You’re hired! Norwood launches new inclusive recruitment scheme Norwood is proud to announce an innovative scheme which will ensure that the people who use our services are integral to the appointment of new employees. The Inclusive Recruitment initiative has already been successfully trialled across Norwood services in Berkshire and London and is set to be rolled out across the organisation by April. 9 July 2010
  • YN Lawyers Celebrity Debate raises £23,000 for Norwood Should celebrities expect to be able to lead a normal private life? This thorny topic and other related issues were hotly debated by a panel of experts at the fifth YN Lawyers Reception, which raised an incredible £23,000 for Norwood. Over 200 young lawyers attended last night's fundraising and networking event at the City offices of Goldman Sachs. 2 July 2010
