Bernie Myers (Chairman)

Bernie MyersBernard Myers was born on 2nd April 1944 and read Economics at the London School of Economics. He subsequently joined a leading firm of accountants and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1968 before joining N M Rothschild & Sons Limited in 1972. His initial work at Rothschild’s was in Corporate Finance and Leasing. He was appointed Director of N M Rothschild & Sons Limited in 1976 and was Finance Director from 1976 to 1980. In July 1988 he became Managing Director (Group Finance and International) of N M Rothschild & Sons Limited, which position he held until his retirement in October 1996.

His experience encompassed a wide range of management roles as well as direct experience of corporate finance, leasing, life assurance and private equity. In addition, he was a director of Smith New Court Plc from 1985 to 1995 and Chairman of Lambert Fenchurch Group plc from 1998 to 1999.

Bernie Myers is currently a Consultant to N M Rothschild & Sons Limited and a director of Rothschilds Continuation Limited, as well as other Rothschild Group Companies. In addition, he is a director of Moss Bros Group PLC, Chairman of the Industrial Dwellings Society (1885) Limited, Vice-Chairman of the British Friends of the Hebrew University, an Associate Governor of the Hebrew University, Vice-Chairman of the Harrow Citizens Advice Bureau and a Trustee of Grief Encounter. He is also Chairman of a number of private companies.

Bernie is married to Sandra and they have 3 children, Lara, Andrew and Lyndsey, and 5 grandchildren. He is an avid Arsenal fan and regular attendee at the Emirates Stadium. He also tries to play golf and enjoys the theatre.
