Ruth Levere

Ruth Levere is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the field of child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) for over 30 years. She is head of the child clinical psychology section within Harrow CAMHS and her main area of direct clinical work is in the assessment of children and young people with possible autistic spectrum conditions ASC and other neurodevelopmental issues. She also provides supervision and management for the clinical psychology team who work in a range of specialities including learning disabilities, paediatric psychology and looked-after children.

Ruth completed a degree in Social Psychology at the University of Sussex followed by an M.Phil in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, University of London. She worked in the Department of Psychological Medicine, Great Ormond Street Hospital before moving to Harrow. She was also an Academic Tutor on the North-West Thames Regional Health Authority training course in Clinical Psychology and is now on the course management committee of the Royal Holloway Clinical Psychology training course. She has lectured on a range of topics in child mental health.

In addition to her interest in children with ASC , Ruth’s professional interests and past research has focussed on the mental health issues faced by pre-school children and the use of cognitive-behavioural therapy in the treatment of mental health issues in children and adolescents.
