Ruth Fasht O.B.E.

Ruth Fasht

Ruth spent over 20 years as Director of Norwood. From 2001 – 2004 she was Director of the Adoption Register for England and Wales having led the team which won the bid to operate the Register on behalf of the Government. Ruth’s other posts included director of Norwood Adoption Society and Director of Children & Family Services.

Ruth has been a trustee of four national organizations. She is currently a Member of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority, which is a non-Departmental Government Organisation, the UK’s independent regulator overseeing safe and appropriate practice in fertility treatment and embryo research. She is Chair of the H.F.E.A.’s Compliance Committee.

Ruth has contributed to many international, national and local government working groups and projects in the field of child and family welfare. She has chaired adoption panels; led conferences in the Jewish community on family welfare and participated in training and development for professionals and volunteer groups.

She qualified as a social worker at the London School of Economics and as a group analyst at The Institute of Group Analysis, London. She offers consultancy on childcare, social work, fostering and adoption services and related issues.

She was awarded the O.B.E. in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, 2005.
