Max Caller CBE

Max CallerMax was brought up in South Wales before coming to London to study civil engineering. He has worked for a number of London Boroughs starting by inspecting London sewers from the inside, before being appointed Chief Executive and Returning Officer at Barnet in 1989. Because this was far too quiet a life he took on the challenge of Hackney in 2000 as Chief Executive and retired in December 2004.

Retirement clearly did not suit him as he then took on the role of Interim Chief Executive at London Borough of Haringey for a year. He has acted as Returning Officer for all classes of elections and was the first London Regional Officer for the European Parliament Elections in 1999 and has recently been appointed an Electoral Commissioner. He was appointed CBE in New Years Honours List 2005. For relaxation he plays competitive bridge and loves watching Wales beat everybody at rugby, especially England.
