Gillian Howard

Gillian HowardGillian Howard is an employment lawyer, specialising in employment law, personal injury, medical negligence and defamation.

She acts for both corporate and individual clients and has over 20 retained corporate clients.

She has recently settled two major sex discrimination claims in the City acting for Ann Iveson against BNP Paribas and Elizabeth Weston against Merrill Lynch.

She has a wide-ranging Practice in both contentious and non-contentious work. She represents clients at tribunals and in the High Court as well as advising and drafting on company policies and procedures.

She is the author of many books and articles, including ‘Drafting Contracts of Employment’ 2004 The Law Society; ‘Vetting and Monitoring Employees at Work” 2004 Gower Press, and contributing to 4 editions of “Fitness for Work – Medical Aspects” published by Oxford University Press. Gillian advised on the BBC drama documentary “Sex, the City and me” which exposed sex discrimination in the City.

She is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians, was a former Lay Observer on the Board of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Occupational Medicine at the University of Birmingham and is on the Editorial Board of Butterworth’s Occupational Health Review.
