Dr Richard S Trompeter FRCP FRCPCH
Dr Richard Trompeter is a children’s kidney specialist. He was a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for 25 years and now holds Honorary Consultant status. He continues to work as a Consultant Nephrologist at The Royal Free Hospital where he holds a transitional care clinic for young adults with a special type of chronic kidney disease called nephrotic syndrome. With a long standing research interest in this condition, current academic work continues both in the laboratory and nationally in clinical trials. To date awarded research grant income has totalled more than 1 million pounds.
Currently President of the International Pediatric Transplant Association reflecting his other major career interest of solid organ transplantation in children. A member of the Ethics Committee of the European Renal association and Chair of Trustees of the medical charity Kids Kidney Research. He has published over 100 peer reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters. He consults privately at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Child and Family Practice in London.
Previous appointments include President of the Paediatric & Child Health Section, Royal Society of Medicine, Treasurer of the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology, Chair of Great Ormond Street Hospital Clinical Ethics Committee & Clinical Director of the Medical Unit and International & Private Patient Unit at Great Ormond Street.
