Skyla is a gorgeous, sociable six year-old little girl who loves playing and being active. However, unlike other children her age, she cannot walk or talk.
When Skyla was diagnosed with epilepsy, autism and global developmental delay as a baby, her parents were devastated and didn’t know where to turn.
Fortunately, Norwood was there for the family and since then has provided them with the vital practical and emotional support they need.
At Norwood’s Kennedy Leigh Children & Family Centre, Skyla’s parents meet other mums and dads of children with disabilities with whom they can share experiences and advice. Meanwhile, Skyla makes friends and takes part in fun, stimulating activities that maximise her abilities, while she receives one-to-one support from specialist staff.
Thanks to Norwood’s support, Skyla is making progress and is becoming more independent and her parents are finding it easier to cope with their daughter’s disabilities.
