Emily’s Story

Her teacher observed that her behaviour had changed and also noticed some bruises on her arms. An investigation uncovered that tragically Emily had been subjected to parental abuse and neglect.

As a result Emily was removed from her parents and placed temporarily in a non-Jewish foster home. Knowing that Emily was Jewish, Norwood was then approached by the Local Authority to find a suitable foster family. Norwood arranged a long-term placement for Emily with an experienced and loving Jewish foster family that provided the warmth and support that she needed so badly.

She received specialist care and medical attention to resolve her health issues so that she could begin to trust again and enjoy her childhood.

Emily has developed beyond expectations in her new environment. Together with her dedicated foster parents, she is well supported by Norwood’s fostering team and uses the wide range of recreational services at Norwood’s Children and Family Centre. Emily has made many friends and has started to excel at her new Jewish school. With sensitivity and encouragement, she has developed into a happy and confident girl with a bright future.

Norwood has changed Emily’s life and with your help we can ensure that we will always be there for her and others like her in the future.
