Teaching Services

Picture of women at work in BinohWho do we help?

The Binoh Teaching Service works with pupils with learning difficulties and developmental delay, specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, physical and sensory needs, autistic spectrum and communication difficulties, and emotional and behavioural problems.

These may make it difficult for pupils to learn effectively in a mainstream school. The Service aims to support pupils, parents and schools.

What services do we provide?

All services are available both for Secular and Jewish studies (Kodesh).

FOR PUPILS

Specialist teachers provide both Secular and Jewish Studies teaching to pupils in their schools. In so doing they work closely with school staff to maximise this help.

Learning Support Assistants work with individual pupils in their schools primarily in class and where necessary on a one-to-one basis out of the classroom.

Mainstream Pupil Support Units operate in the Kennedy Leigh Centre, Hendon and the Somers Centre, Hackney. These Units are for pupils who, for various reasons, are finding it difficult to cope in their mainstream schools or who may not be in a school. Pupils attend between one and four sessions per week, with primary age pupils attending in the morning and secondary age pupils in the afternoon. The Unit groups are staffed by specialist teachers who follow an intensive programme geared to the child’s individual needs.
