Children & Family Services

Norwood's Children & Family Services incorporate the work of our three Children & Family Centres. Each centre runs specialist support groups for children and families, supported by teams of professional social workers.

Children and Family Support
Norwood offers a very broad range of support for children and families. We have three Children and Family Centres offering a range of services including toy libraries, mother & toddler groups, therapy rooms and counselling which are used by thousands of people each year.

Special Education
Binoh, Norwood’s education and therapy service, works with hundreds of children with special educational needs or behavioural difficulties to enhance their learning and to improve self-esteem. Specifically, programmes are designed to enable these children to remain in mainstream schools wherever possible.

Short Breaks
Buckets & Spades Lodge is Norwood’s short breaks home located in a purpose-built family bungalow in Finchley. It provides 24-hour high-quality care by trained staff for children with learning and physical disabilities, giving parents and children alike a break.

Adoption
Norwood's Adoption service places children from birth to 18 years of age with secure, stable and loving families. Norwood is one of only five inter-country adoption agencies in the UK, offering a full service and support to families going overseas to adopt.

In addition to the above services, Norwood are pleased to support the below organisations which are totally independent of Norwood.

The Jewish Marriage Council (JMC) is a not-for-profit organisation set up to provide sensitive support for Jewish individuals, couples and families. The Jewish Marriage Council run a counselling service for individuals and couples; their qualified and experienced counsellors work with all issues from relationship issues to family issues. No-one is turned away through lack of funds.

Special Families
This group is open to parents, grandparents and siblings of a special needs family member. Special Families is run by parents and all members have a child or young adult with Special Needs. We hold 6 meetings a year around North West London, some with a speaker and some as informal gatherings to just meet and chat - plus we run other support services including an e-group that allows the fast sharing of information, friendship and support.
