Norwood provides a wide range of housing and support, so that people with varying disabilities are able to choose how they would like to live.
Norwood offers Registered Care and our residential homes are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). A registered home provides shared accommodation for a number of people. Each individual has their own bedroom as well as the use of well-equipped shared kitchens, living rooms and gardens. Norwood has a number of residential homes situated in Crowthorne, Berkshire as well as North London – Barnet, Redbridge and Harrow.
Norwood’s Supported Living services allows adults who have a learning disability to live independently, renting or owning their own home, whilst providing them with the level of support they need. The level of support ranges from 24 hours a day through to a few hours each week, depending on the needs of the individual.
We aim to maximise opportunities for choice and independence as far as possible and to enable individuals to choose the kind of lifestyle they would like, including having their own tenancy or shared ownership. We provide a Jewish environment and whilst we do offer support to non-Jewish service users, all our residential homes observe kashrut, Shabbat and the various festivals.
Support in our homes
Each individual receives support according to their assessed need, and this will cover areas such as help with daily living skills, dealing with benefits and correspondence, or accessing facilities within the community.
As far as is possible we enable adults to plan their own support using a person centred approach which focuses on their desired outcomes. Our support staff work very closely together with local community services and professional bodies to ensure that each person has access to appropriate healthcare and assistance. They also work hard to ensure that adults are fulfilled and active in their daily life and have access to a variety of social and leisure opportunities through Norwood’s Life Long Learning service.
