Supported paid work search and on the job training

Naomi Mushin with her pay chequeOnce the most appropriate field of work has been identified, the supported employment service will endeavour to find a paid opportunity with the candidate. If the candidate is able to job search for themselves then the Job Coach will provide support where it is required e.g. CV writing, interview skills etc.

Once the job has been identified and negotiated, the Job Coach will work alongside the individual and train them in the role. The Job Coach will gradually reduce support as the individual demonstrates more independence and confidence. They will continue to support practically until it is no longer necessary to do so. Ongoing reviews will Nicola Faichney at the WorkHubcontinue with both the employee and employer. The Job Coach remains as a source of support for both as and when necessary.

Some of the people we support may find it difficult to get to work as they may not have previously had any type of travel training, or they may not know the route. The Job Coach can support this by meeting the employee at an agreed place, such as the bus stop or the employee’s home, and teach them the route. As with the work placement, the Job Coach will reduce support as the individual shows independence and confidence in this area.
