The supported employment work experience programme

This allows participants who may have had little or no experience of work environments to access a minimum of a half day taster session in each of the following six fields of work:

• Catering
• Retail
• Administration
• Industrial
• Domestic services
• Delivery services

All these fields of work offer entry level positions as well as positions with more complexity, and so appropriate work can be found for adults of all abilities.

The aim of this sequence of taster days is to enable participants of the programme to make informed choices about the area of work that interests them and decide on what they wish to realistically pursue. Each of the placements are fully supported by a Norwood Job Coach who provides on the job training as well as completing an assessment of the skill base and suitability of the candidate to that particular area of work.

We are delivering this programme by working with partners in the corporate sector who provide us with the opportunities needed to make this happen.
