The Norwood Nursery accommodates children who have disabilities or require additional support, as well as providing a first-class facility for children who have no special needs. The £350,000 project has been funded by generous donors.
Up to 20 children aged two and above will be accepted in its first year. The Centre will have its own entrance, access to outside play, a sensory garden and an adventure playground. Inside, the space can be adapted to accommodate children with different needs and the redesigned setting will enable them to learn and play in an environment where they can all develop their abilities and preferences as they progress. Children will also benefit from the Centre’s sensory room and the deli, where food and drink is prepared by Norwood service users.
Children attending the nursery will also have the additional benefit of being able to access a range of multi-disciplinary staff already based at the Centre. These include Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists and Occupational Therapists, all of whom have the potential to support not only the children, but their families too.
The new Norwood Nursery offers:
- Dedicated, Early Years qualified staff.
- Education through structured play, to incorporate the Foundation Stage curriculum.
- Encouragement for children to become active members of family and community.
- A sensory room and soft play area.
