Examples of how we work

Music therapy can help people of all ages and abilities. It is often used when someone finds it difficult to express themselves, which can be the result of emotional distress or of a physical or learning disability.

We use interactive music-making as a means of communication, self expression and emotional support. This can develop many different skills which are relevant in everyday life, including making relationships with other people:

  • Listening
  • Sharing
  • Physical skills
  • Concentration and memory skills
  • Self-awareness
  • Confidence
  • Self-esteem.

Great Interactions

Great Interactions is an approach demonstrated in the video below that is presented by a group of people Norwood supports with learning disabilities. Great Interactions facilitates specific skills that eases communication difficulties and this enables people with a learning disability to take increasing control over their own lives.
